MIAMI — Inter Miami coach Guillermo Hoyos has been given a one-match suspension by Major League Soccer for repeated violation of the league’s late kickoff policy.
“Major League Soccer’s Late Kickoff Policy states that all clubs must be on the field and ready to play at the scheduled kickoff of the first and second half. MLS clubs and head coaches are subject to escalating fines and a head coach suspension for repeated violations, as outlined in the league policy,” MLS said in a news release on Thursday.
Hoyos will serve the suspension during the match against CF Montréal on Aug. 29 at Nu Stadium. MLS also fined Hoyos an undisclosed amount for violation of the policy.
MLS confirmed that Miami violated the late kickoff policy in the matches against Nashville on Aug. 15, Philadelphia Union on Aug. 19 and Toronto on Aug. 22.

Inter Miami are currently on a five-game winless streak, recording four losses and one draw across Leagues Cup and MLS.
Hoyos took responsibility for the recent stretch of negative results following the 2-1 defeat to Toronto at Nu Stadium.
“It’s part of the demands of high-level competition, but I believe these are very temporary situations that get resolved through results because results ease the pressure,” he told a news conference. “Right now, we’re facing a struggle with results that we didn’t have before; that struggle affects our mindset, and that’s why things sometimes don’t go our way.

“I’ll say it again, and I always say the same thing: when we’re going through a losing streak, the responsibility is mine. Together with the people I work with, we have to build and develop things to see if we can turn this around as quickly as possible.”
Inter Miami currently sits in second place on the Eastern Conference table with 39 points in 21 matches.
