Carolina Reyna, sister of United States men’s national team midfielder Gio Reyna, has been named to the United States’ U17 Women’s World Cup roster, which would make the siblings the first brother-sister duo to represent the U.S. at a U17 World Cup.
Their father, Claudio, and mother, Danielle, both played for the United States senior national teams as well.
USWNT U17 head coach Ciara Crinion named her 21-player World Cup roster on Thursday ahead of next month’s tournament in Morocco.
Reyna, who plays club soccer in Austin, Texas, is one of six forwards on the team and continues the family tradition of representing the United States.
Claudio also played in the event (then a U16 tournament) in 1989 before captaining the senior team and playing in four senior World Cups. Gio was part of the 2022 and 2026 senior World Cup teams. The 23-year-old now plays for French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg after a summer move.
Danielle earned six caps for the senior USWNT, all in 1993.
When Gio made his senior USMNT debut in 2020, the Reyna family became the first to have three members play for senior U.S. national teams.
A brother-sister duo is a first at this level for the United States. Three pairs of sisters — Gisele and Alyssa Thompson, Sam and Kristie Mewis, and Lorrie and Ronnie Fair — have represented the senior USWNT.
Crinion hopes to lead the USWNT to a U17 World Cup title for the first time. The United States has never finished better than runners-up at the U17 level, losing to North Korea in the inaugural event in 2008. The United States finished third in 2024.
Crinion’s roster features one professional player, Meila Brewer. The 17-year-old defender recently left the NWSL’s Kansas City Current by mutual termination and signed with the USL Super League’s Dallas Trinity.

This is the third straight USWNT roster at a U17 World Cup to feature professional players (the event recently became annual). The 2024 roster had four professionals and the 2025 USWNT roster had three professional players.
The USWNT roster features three college players, all of whom enrolled early.
The U.S. will play Samoa, Kenya and China in the group stage beginning on Oct. 19.
North Korea won the past two tournaments, with Spain winning back-to-back titles before that.
