Harry Kane scored the winner for Bayern Munich to claim a 2-1 win over SV Elversberg in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Lennart Karl opened the scoring for Bayern with a close-range finish, but Maurice Krattenmacher brought the hosts back on level terms in the second half.

Kane then restored Bayern’s advantage with 18 minutes of normal time left to help the team return to winning ways in the Bundesliga following a goalless draw with Schalke last Saturday.

Victory sends Vincent Kompany‘s side into fourth in the standings, while Elversberg drop into sixth.

Elversberg had an early opportunity only five minutes into the match when Lukas Petkov latched onto Felix Keidel’s cross, but the midfielder’s effort was blocked.

Kane had a shot blocked at the opposite end with Karl also denied and Aleksandar Pavlovic sent an effort wide as Bayern looked to open the scoring.

Ismael Saibari nodded wide for the visitors and Petkov was in the thick of the action for Elversberg, linking up with Noah Darvich who sent the ball wide.

Karl then found the breakthrough for Bayern in the 26th minute, picking up Saibari’s pass across the box and smashing home from close-range.

Campbell struck for Elversberg, but the goal was ruled out following a lengthy VAR check for offside.

Nicolas Kristof made the save from Nathaniel Brown early in the second half and Pavlovic played a pass in for Kane, who could only send his strike wide of the mark.

Jonas Urbig made a save from Petkov’s cross as Elversberg looked to test the visitors and they found an equaliser in the 61st minute.

Krattenmacher struck from outside of the box with a superb effort that nestled into the top corner.

Bayern boss Kompany then made a quadruple substitution and Luis Díaz nearly made an impact from the bench, but his backheel was held by Kristof.

Bayern went back in front in the 72nd minute when Pavlovic picked out Kane in the box and the striker blasted a shot past Kristof to score his first Bundesliga goal of the campaign.

Noel Futkeu fired wide for the hosts as they looked to get themselves back into the contest.

Kane had a header saved by Kristof, who also tipped Joshua Kimmich‘s effort over before Bayern saw out the win.
