Paris Saint-Germain ‘s difficult Ligue 1 start continued as early-season pace-setters AS Monaco won 2-1 at Parc des Princes.
After successive 2-2 draws at Rennes and Lille, the French champions seemed set for a first win of the campaign when skipper Marquinhos put them ahead after 31 minutes.
But PSG were stunned as Názinho and Stanis Idumbo scored second-half goals to give Monaco a third straight win and take them two points clear of Lyon and Lille.
It was also Monaco’s third successive victory over PSG, who find themselves in the unusual position of 12th in Ligue 1 after three games and could fall even further this weekend.
This was PSG’s first home fixture this term after the Rennes game was switched because summer heatwaves had damaged the Parc des Princes pitch.

PSG were boosted before kickoff by the news that double Champions League-winning coach Luis Enrique had extended his stay at the club until 2030.
There was also a raft of player contract renewals, including midfielders Fabián Ruiz and João Neves signing new deals.

Neves and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia returned after missing the Lille draw, with Lucas Beraldo and Ferran Torres making way.
Monaco striker Folarin Balogun was absent following the collapse of his proposed move to Everton, although midfielder Lamine Camara did start after his potential transfer to Chelsea failed to materialise.

Désiré Doué had two early sights of goal, with the well-positioned Lukas Hradecky frustrating him on each occasion, and Kvaratskhelia wasted a rebound opportunity from the second opening.
Monaco threatened as Vanderson made light of a tight angle to bring a useful save from Matvey Safonov.
But PSG were soon in front as Kvaratskhelia’s early cross caught Monaco out and Marquinhos chested the ball over the line, his 28th league goal in his 14th Ligue 1 season.
Kvaratskhelia was an increasing influence on matters and his 20-yard strike deflected off Eric Dier to produce a sharp save from Hradecky.
PSG continued to push after the restart, with Doué and Kvaratskhelia combining for Maghnes Akliouche to rattle the crossbar, although an offside flag would have prevented the summer signing’s first goal for the Parisians.

Akliouche almost lifted the ball over Hradecky from Vitinha’s pass and the Portuguese playmaker then saw his effort saved as home pressure grew.
Monaco equalised against the run of play after 58 minutes when PSG failed to deal with a loose ball and Jordan Teze crossed for the unmarked Názinho to nod home.
Monaco’s growing sense of belief was rewarded when Idumbo beat Marquinhos and his rasping drive flew past Safonov at his near post.
PSG applied late pressure, with Torres having an effort ruled out for offside and Hradecky making a stunning save from Ousmane Dembélé in the final seconds.
