Sávio has joined Tottenham from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £85 million ($116m).

Spurs had been pursuing Sávio for a year, after first registering their interest in the forward last summer.

“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here,” Sávio said.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world.

“As soon as I spoke to the head coach I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level, and I believe we can do that together, as a team.”

Sporting director Johan Lange said: “Sávio is someone who has been on our radar for a while and I’m delighted that he is now a Tottenham Hotspur player.

“He has already shown his quality at the highest level, and we believe his ability, style and mentality will be a great fit for the squad we are building here.

“I know he will excite our supporters every time he gets on the ball and I’m looking forward to watching his development under Roberto’s coaching.”

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: “Sávio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions. He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.

“We’re very pleased to have him with us, and I’m looking forward to working with him, helping him continue to grow and seeing him bring his personality to the team.”

The Brazilian made just 53 appearances for City — registering two goals and 12 assists — after joining City from Troyes in 2024.

The deal takes Spurs’ spending past £300m ($408.9m) this summer after signing Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke in addition to free agents Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dúbravka.

They have also made a significant amount of money from player sales, however, following the departures of Cristian Romero, Djed Spence and Luka Vuskovic.

Sávio arrival boosts Spurs’ forward line options, which were limited in their Premier League opener against Brentford last weekend — with 19-year-old academy graduate Mikey Moore starting at right-wing in that game.

Egypt forward Omar Marmoush is also expected to join Tottenham from Man City, sources have told ESPN.
