Newcastle United have made contact with Manchester City over a deal for Nico González, sources have told ESPN.
City are open to offers, despite González saying during preseason that his intention is to stay at the Etihad Stadium this season. Newcastle are looking to strengthen their midfield after sanctioning Bruno Guimarães’ £75 million move to Arsenal.
González joined City from Porto in a £50m deal during the winter transfer window in 2025. He has made 59 appearances for the club, scoring four goals — including the winner in last season’s FA Cup semifinal victory over Southampton at Wembley.
