Everton eye Folarin Balogun amid Iliman Ndiaye links with Tottenham – sources

Everton are considering a move for USMNT forward Folarin Balogun ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline, sources have told ESPN, but a move for the 25-year-old could hinge on the outcome of attempts to offload Iliman Ndiaye and Beto.

Blues’ manager David Moyes is determined to bolster his team’s attacking options during the final two days of the transfer window and Monaco forward Balogun is a leading target to complete switch to the Premier League side.

But Balogun’s hopes of returning to England following previous spells at Arsenal and Middlesbrough depend on Everton completing a number of outgoings before the window closes.

Senegal forward Ndiaye is in talks with Tottenham over a move to the London club and a separate deal that would see Richarlison return to Everton, four years after leaving the Toffees for Spurs in a £50 million ($67m) transfer.

Sources have told ESPN that it is unlikely that Everton will sign both Richarlison and Balogun before the Sept 1 deadline — 11:00 p.m. BST / 6:00 p.m. EST — unless the club are able to raise funds by dispensing with former Udinese forward Beto.

Everton have green lit Ndiaye’s exit after pulling the plug on an agreement to offload 19-year-old midfielder Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest in a £40 million deal due to supporter unrest at the plan to part with the Liverpool-born youngster.

Moyes made it clear after last week’s Carabao Cup win at Preston that he needed more players adding to his squad and Everton also have an interest in Sunderland defender Trai Hume and Manchester City winger Jack Grealish.

But if Moyes is to add both Richarlison and Balogun to his squad this week, Everton will need to seal a move out for Beto.
