Manchester City have signed England international goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse on a short-term loan until the end of January 2027 from NWSL side Orlando Pride.
Moorhouse was part of Orlando’s 2024 NWSL Championship and NWSL Shield double maintaining a 13-game clean sheet record. She has struggled this season, being dropped from the XI following 31 goals conceded in 20 games.
The 31-year-old was part of Sarina Wiegman’s 2025 Euros-winning squad but did not play during the tournament. She has two caps for England, keeping a clean sheet in both games.
“It’s a new challenge, and a different style of play. I’m happy to be here and to get started,” Moorhouse told club media.

“From top to bottom last season was incredible for City and I’m happy to be here with the champions of England. When a club like Manchester City calls, you have to answer.”
Orlando, who sit five points outside the final playoff place in the NWSL, said it supported Moorhouse’s wish to return to England.
“Anna has been an invaluable part of our club, and when the opportunity arose for her to return home to England and compete in the Women’s Super League, we worked closely with her to make it happen,” Orlando Pride VP of soccer operations and general manager Caitlin Carducci said in a team statement.
“We are fortunate to have tremendous quality and depth within our goalkeeping group, and this loan provides Anna with an opportunity to continue playing meaningful minutes at a high level while being closer to home and family.”

Khiara Keating left Manchester City for Liverpool — coached by former City boss Gareth Taylor — leaving minimal experienced options between the sticks ahead of City’s title defense and their return to European football.
Japanese shot-stopper Ayaka Yamashita has been City’s first choice for some time, and Moorhouse will likely play a backup role to the 30-year-old after a surprise move with the 2027 World Cup next summer.
Man City were also in pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Jennifer Echegini, however sources told ESPN that the deal will not go ahead before the close of the transfer window on Thursday night.

Sources said that City had several failed bids but were ultimately unwilling to match PSG’s asking price of £500,000.
Andree Jeglertz’s side have been rather quiet this summer, adding Beth Mead and Niamh Charles to the side alongside winning the race to sign young right back Carlotta Wamser.
A knee injury to Vivianne Miedema, unrelated to her previous ACL injury, had increased City’s determination to sign Echegini to bolster their ranks.
